The Communications Specialist is full time contract position that will assist the Manager of Digital Communications with production of current and engaging internal and external content for all our users and clients. This role will work with all facets of the Communications team to effectively assist in the creation and delivery of web content for our clients and internal users. Using an excellent degree of strategic thinking, writing, and editing skills, this role will work in partnership with all departments to develop, create and provide content for client websites, newsletters and campaigns.
This role requires good organizational skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to take on multiple projects at a time to ensure timely and effective execution of communication campaigns that support LEF’s vision.
Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively support the implementation of communication strategy that includes outreach and social media content creation.
- Assist in writing and populating relevant content on the company’s website
- Create content including video, photography, and graphic design for use on the company’s external channels
- Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns with the team.
- Attend LEF events and activities and create stories using photography, writing, and video production
- Supports the writing and producing of monthly newsletters for all departments, social media posts and website updates.
- Support the writing and publishing of content for the new website and intranet site.
- Adhere to the company’s style guide, ensuring that we produce high-quality and error-free copy.
- Support the development and maintenance of LEF’s internal image and video library
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with key internal stakeholders/departments to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various initiatives.
- Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the company’s policies, principles and strategies, and to keep up to date with relevant developments.
- Provide training for staff on communications tools such as Canva and SharePoint
- Creating end user guides and quick start documents to align with LEF processes.
- Build and maintain relationships with each department and external stakeholders.
- Manage time efficiently in order to meet content goals and client deadlines.
- Work in compliance with all LEF health and safety policies and procedures
- Participate in promoting the Occupational Health and Safety Policy Statement
- Participate in health and Safety education and training
- Other Duties as assigned
Experience and Skills
- 1-2 years of experience in communications or a related field
- College diploma or university degree in communications, design, or a related discipline
- Graphic design skills essential. Videography, video editing, and photography skills considered an asset.
- Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)
- Strong English written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines and projects at once
- Experience working with content management systems considered an asset (such as Storyblok and others)
- Digital marketing experience considered an asset
