Position Summary:
As a key member, the Program Coordinator and Client Engagement Worker will be working with a dedicated team of professionals, who are highly committed to our community and who support employment and settlement needs, develop employer and community partnerships, and are all strong leaders in their fields of expertise. This position works cooperatively with other staff and managers to ensure clients have positive experiences and work towards meeting their goals.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Comply with the accountability framework, including meeting targets, as set out by the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Groundwork in the Client Engagement Code of Practice and other LEF policies.
- Responsible for program outreach and intake, marketing the program to partners and networks.
- Provide comprehensive case management including orientation, needs assessment, action planning, referrals, solution-focused counselling, and newcomer and employment supports.
- Provide solution-based employment counseling and ongoing support to clients in job search, placement, career decision-making, and job retention.
- Maintain high accuracy in data collection and reporting, and consistently monitor and track caseload success rate to achieve individual targets and contribute to team objectives.
- Determine client eligibility for financial supports, administer eligible supports, and ensure proper documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops and connect and liaise with guest speakers.
- Build partnerships with community agencies, employers, and organizations to facilitate referrals and client supports.
- Assess and document clients' job retention status post-employment for a one-year period.
- Support clients and employers to mediate issues and support job retention.
- Responsible for record keeping, administrative duties and supporting program evaluation and reporting.
- Monitor client progress, employer relations and provide written reports as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Understanding of the trends and challenges of youth, including employment-related issues
- University degree and/or college diploma in Social Work or a related discipline. A relevant combination of training and experience will also be considered
- 1-2 years’ experience providing employment services to youth
- Excellent project coordination skills including experience with project reporting
- Commitment to a holistic, client-centred approach using sustainable livelihoods and motivational interviewing
- Knowledge and understanding of government applications including – but not limited to – Education (OSAP), Employment Insurance, Ontario Works, ODSP, Immigration, SIN, OHIP
- Demonstrated ability to assist clients in the use of resources and technology for job search activities
- Experience administering wage subsidy, and job placement
- Ability to handle difficult situations with maturity and high degree of professionalism
- Proven successful experience completing and maintaining proper documentation including financial and program outcome information
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Goal oriented, outcome driven, highly organized, flexible and adaptable with superior time management skills
- Dynamic, vibrant relationship builder and connector
- Knowledge of the Weston/Mount Dennis neighbourhood is an asset
- Multi-cultural sensitivity and demonstrated success in working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds, in a multi-cultural/multi-racial environment
- The Learning Enrichment Foundation places a high value on lived experience. Personal experience with poverty, unemployment, homelessness, disabilities and/or similar challenges is strongly considered an asset
- Must be Proficient in MS Office Applications; and experience with online engagement tools (i.e. zoom, Microsoft Teams etc.)
- Flexibility and adaptability to the changing environment working from home and in person office
- Must have a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check and proof of two COVID vaccinations
